In Slack, you can edit your answers to Teamline reports both while the report is running and after it has finished, even if your answers were already sent.

Teamline relies on standard Slack message editing, so the behavior is fully controlled by Slack permissions.

How to edit your answer

To edit an answer you sent to a Teamline report:

Step 1: Hover over the message you want to edit.

Step 2: Click More actions (three dots) in the message menu.

Step 3: Select Edit message and update your answer.

Your edited response will be reflected in the report.

Why you might not see the “Edit message” option

If the Edit message option is missing, there are two common reasons.

1. You’re trying to edit a system message

Slack allows users to edit only messages they created themselves.

If the message was sent by the Teamline bot (for example, system prompts or summaries), it cannot be edited by a user.

2. You don’t have permission to edit messages

Your Slack role or workspace settings may restrict message editing.

To check this:

Step 1: Open a direct message with Slackbot.

Step 2: Send the following command:

/verify

Step 3: Slackbot will respond with your workspace role and permissions.

If you’re unable to edit any of your own messages in Slack, contact your Slack workspace admin or Slack support for help:
